Introduction

 Hi there, just wanted to introduce myself. I'm Chris, owner of B1 Racing LLC. We are going to be sharing some of the things that go on at B1 here on this blog. We will be sharing some of our special projects, things we do that make us unique to the industry, race updates, photos and some technical info and tips. Here is a video of a cool machining operation we do at B1. This video shows us line boring a wear ring that is installed in an American Turbine suction housing. What we do is intentionally install a wear ring that is much too small on the I.D. We then put the suction into our Bridgeport milling machine. Once its mounted firmly on the mill we then indicate the suction in a few different ways. Doing this ensures the boring will take place dead nuts in the center of the part and things are perfectly concentric. We then start the boring and watch the ID with a dial bore gauge and put the clearances exactly where we want them. The boring is all on auto feed through the Bridgeport mill. It's a relatively quick machining operation, although the setup is a little time consuming at times. Click the link below to see the video.
